Welcome to the Athletics section of the RHP website, where you can find out about our teams and athletic programs. Athletics contribute strongly to Rolling Hills Prep School's development of healthy bodies as well as to the disciplined minds, sound character and creative spirits that make up our mission statement - RHP's four pillars.

Middle School

Participation in athletics is particularly critical to the middle schooler. This is when students learn the value of teamwork and the importance of trying again if you do not succeed the first time. Rolling Hills Prep School offers an athletics program that combines a sense of competition with a "no cut" policy to allow everyone to play. Many of our students develop an appreciation of teamwork that helps them succeed in future careers as well as on the field. The RHP Middle School athletics program instills an appreciation of sports that follows our students throughout their lives.

Middle School athletics include:

  • boys' soccer
  • girls' soccer
  • boys' volleyball
  • girls' volleyball
  • boys' basketball
  • girls' basketball
  • girls' lacrosse
Upper School

Upper School athletics continues emphasizing the four pillars and the development of teamwork and achievement. We encourage participation in athletics, and because of our small size, many students who might not have considered competitive athletics at a larger school can be very successful here. More than 50% of Upper School students at RHP participate in one or more interscholastic teams each year.

RHP competes against similar-sized schools in the Harbor League and in Division V of the California Interscholastic League's Southern Section, which means that the games are very competitive and the athletic abilities of our students are challenged in a positive way. Our teams boast an excellent record in those competitions, having appeared in six semi-finals and three championship finals in recent years. A number of RHP graduates have been recruited to play at prestigious colleges and universities, and several have gone on to coaching careers.

The Upper School athletics offerings include:

  • coed cross country
  • girls' volleyball
  • football
  • boys' varsity basketball
  • boys' j.v. basketball
  • girls' varsity basketball
  • boys' soccer
  • girls' soccer
  • boys' baseball
  • girls' softball
  • coed track and field
  • cheer

For more details, please take a look at individual athletic team pages which give you some background on our coaches, the philosophy of each program, and each team's history at the school.
